The SPP 1448 aims at the production of a substantial series of monographs and edited volumes that are to focus on the results of the three programmes phases.
The project on „Oil and Social Change“ of the SPP 1448 is based on some of the findings published in the 2011 edited volume "Crude Domination: An Anthropology of Oil" by Andrea Behrends, with Stephen P. Reyna and Günther Schlee. Its chapters investigate nuances of culture, politics and economics in Africa, Latin America, and Eurasia as they pertain to petroleum. The authors wrestle with the key questions vexing scholars and practitioners alike: problems of the economic blight of the resource curse, underdevelopment, democracy, violence and war.
